Let's Testify

by Christi-Anna Boyer

Recently, a group of 55 women from Gospel Community Rivermont went on a weekend retreat in the heart of the Blue Ridge Mountains. While no one knew exactly what God was going to do with us during this time, I believe there was a sense among most of us that God was calling us to come and meet with Him. There were so many amazing things that took place this weekend, and I want to take a moment to testify about a few of those things.

During our time together, God spoke to us and opened the eyes of our hearts to some very specific truths. Many women felt loved by God in ways that they had not previously experienced or truly believed. Others were called to new levels of intimacy with God and others, or to walk in new paths of obedience and trust. The result: peace, confidence, acceptance, and grace.

Overall, there was a corporate call to walk our daily lives in the freedom that God offers through the grace of His son Jesus by the Holy Spirit. Some of the specific areas of freedom mentioned by various women were freedom from shame, loneliness, emotional numbness, past experiences, fear, or anxiety. Maybe you can relate to one of these areas.

I want to challenge you to step into freedom today. God offers His freedom every moment of every day, but it is up to us to walk in it. What does that look like? It looks like walking with Jesus day by day, step by step. It looks like spending time talking with Him, pouring out your heart to Him, being still before Him and waiting for Him to speak. It looks like learning His heart and His ways through reading scripture. It looks like accepting and living by His grace daily to cover us because we will always fall short without it. It looks like positioning our hearts in a posture of, “Father, I need you. Please meet me where I am and help me to move forward with you. Open the eyes of my heart to see and know the hope of your calling, the riches of your inheritance, and the power of your Spirit in me. Help me to know and believe that the same power that raised Christ from the dead is given to me to accomplish and equip me with everything I need in order to live victoriously” (Eph. 1:18-23).

Praise God for the work He is doing among us! Let’s be faithful to testify to one another about the things that God is doing (through the challenges AND the growth). Take some time this week to share these things with someone and let’s testify of God’s work!
